flowers on film

Light & Truth is a pretty fabulous periodical targeted to the photographer…amy + richard of Red Leaf Studios are the dynamic duo behind this magazine and both are very talented shooters too. I am honored to have been featured again – this time to talk about my approach to shooting on-location or in the studio for floral [+ food!] work, starting on page No. 33.

…and below are some of my favorite images from this shoot – from an afternoon of playing with light + flowers with the talented becca of Petal Floral Design.

studio on tour – C. Crowell Fine Confections

so to say that I love a good sweet might be an understatement…and to say that I simply adore French macarons is yet another underestimation on how I feel about these tasty little treasures. they make the perfect addition to a wedding or special gathering…to serve or as a favor. thank you to the lovely Claudia of C. Crowells Fine Confections for inviting me to capture her process of making this lovely French confectionery. and thank you too for the box of macs that barely made it home to share…they were delish!

Claudia shared her technique + recipe for her honey lavender macs over on Eat Boutique…read more about Claudia and her recipe here.

studio on tour – Chive Events

oh Chive, how do I love thee, let me count the ways…an afternoon filled with some shooting + some sampling.  it was perfection.

I was truly amazed at the experience the women of Chive provide when hosting a new client for a tasting. Thank you for inviting me into your kitchen…and many thanks to Suzanne + Luke for allowing me to peer through their wedding planning window and capture some of that process!

“Hooked” by the women of Chive

The women of Chive – innovative, committed, crazy talented – and all served up with a side of grace. They hosted their 2nd Sustainable Sunday Supper “Hooked” in late July where I was introduced to their focus of sustainable event design and catering.  The event included local purveyors who not only donated their time, but their wares as well… and the proceeds helped raise the needed funds to purchase a tractor for the Food Project,  a Boston-based non-profit which provides urban youth the opportunity to experience sustainable agriculture.  I am enamored with their commitment to the community and responsible business practices without comprising style and of course, fabulous flavor. Their next Sunday Supper, Fire + Flannel,  is planned for October 30th and should be a must-attend on your calendar…see you there!

Thank you, Ladies, for welcoming me into your community… and I look forward to your next creation.

studio on tour – Eat Cake!

My first stop on White Loft Studio’s “studio on tour” series is Eat Cake! – a boutique bakery right in the heart of Newburyport.  Eat Cake! has a cult following for their daily cupcake offerings which often sell out long before the day is done…… they also produce beautiful custom cakes for parties and weddings and much in-between.  A big thank you to Hilary and her small army of cake artisans that welcomed me into their kitchen for some behind-the-scenes shooting.
